The person who may be responsible for more food-related illness and death than anyone in history has been made the US food safety czar. This is no joke.

Michael Taylor, MONSANTO’S VICE PRESIDENT, was just appointed senior advisor to the commissioner of the FDA. This is the same man that was in charge of FDA policy when GMO’s were allowed into the US food supply without undergoing a single test to determine their safety. He “had been Monsanto’s attorney before becoming policy chief at the FDA [and then] he became Monsanto’s Vice President and chief lobbyist. This month [he] became the senior advisor to the commissioner of the FDA. He is now America’s food safety czar. This is no joke.”

Natural induction is only a helping hand - it's usually gentle enough that it won't bring on labor if your body isn't ready. It's not recommended for use before 39-40 weeks.

You should do your own research on any natural induction method before trying it. Make sure you know the risks and are taking the correct amount of any herbal product and don't overstrain yourself with labor inducing exercises.

The failure in the county child protection system could hardly have been more abject. Ten-year-old Abdifatah Mohamud was beaten to death last week, a year after he twice called 911 to report that his stepfather was abusing him.

Now the stepfather, Ali Mohamed Mohamud, is charged with murdering the boy. Not just murdering, but bludgeoning, even torturing. Police say the elder Mohamud tied his stepson's hands, stuffed a sock in his mouth and taped it shut with duct tape. Then, they say, Mohamud took a baker's rolling pin and, not once or twice, but 70 times struck the boy, who a full year earlier had cried out for help.

While county officials were asleep at the wheel, Tarrant County became a magnet this year for an odd assortment of squatters claiming other people's houses all over the area.

The cast of characters includes a homeowner who scooped up a dead neighbor's house; a woman who came to Fort Worth from Memphis to lay claim to a $2.7 million mansion; people who cited Bible verses as legal justification for taking properties; and career criminals who grabbed homes to lease to tenants.

The mother of a 17-month-old toddler and a 2-month-old baby who suffered neglect under the care of their foster parents is suing Clark County, several Clark County Department of Family Services' employees and the foster parents.

Former foster parents Andrea Hernandez, 38, and her husband, Waldo Hernandez, 40, were sentenced in March to five years of probation for failing to properly care for the two foster children last year. "Clark County (Department of Family Services) had guidelines for determining the appropriate priority of hotline calls, but failed to adequately train its hotline staff workers as to those guidelines," The complaint alleges.

Abused and neglected children are staying longer and showing up in greater numbers at a Clark County-run emergency shelter, causing it to surpass its licensed capacity and raising concerns among child welfare advocates.

As of Tuesday, there were 56 children staying at the shelter on Pecos Road near Bonanza Road, according to Kristi Jourdan, Family Services spokeswoman. That number hit 83 in mid-April. The shelter's capacity is 56, according to Latisha Brown, a child care licensing program manager with the state Department of Health and Human Services. The average number of children at Child Haven is usually about 25. The county is working with the state to expand the shelter's capacity.

In a case some argue could throw open the long-standing secrecy behind police internal investigations, the 4th District Court of Appeals in Springfield has ruled internal affairs files are a public record regardless of the outcome of the probe.

Attorneys specializing in Illinois public records law said Thursday it is the first such ruling of its kind in the state and therefore binding on trial courts statewide. It could also have repercussions for long-running complaints about Chicago police brutality.

Easter rapidly approaching, I knew that mom's everywhere would soon be thinking about coloring Easter eggs for the hunts that will be taking place all over.

We've always got fruits and vegetables on hand, as my husband is a juicing fiend. I knew it would be easy to gather exactly what I needed to have a wide variety of colors. Brown onions, red onions, beets, blueberries, spinach, red cabbage, turmeric, and paprika.
