The Obama Administration is circumventing Congress by granting states conditional waivers from the onerous provisions of No Child Left Behind.

It's a story we've heard before. Where President Obama can't legislate, he will use executive branch action to accomplish his agenda. In the past, he has applied that tactic in the auto bailout, EPA regulations, and Obamacare. Now he's using this approach to remake No Child Left Behind (NCLB)-the most significant K-12 education law-by granting states conditional waivers from the onerous provisions of NCLB in exchange for adopting a yet-to-be-specified set of executive branch education policy priorities.

In an unusual racial discrimination case, a white man sued his former boss, who is black, over racial discrimination, says he was called "cracker" and "stupid white boy."

Pasternak, 48, claimed that over the years he worked for Baines at a New York state job with Children and Family Services, he was repeatedly harassed with racial slurs and other forms of discrimination based upon his skin color.

In a hard hitting editorial, the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics (IJME) has accused the WHO of promoting Pentavalent vaccine "by stating falsely that no adverse event following immunization (AEFI) has ever been reported with the vaccine."

The journal says this is contrary to facts. The IJME editorial by Dr. Jacob Puliyel, head of pediatrics at St Stephens Hospital in New Delhi, is based on his detailed investigation into the deaths of children in Bhutan, Sri Lanka, India and Vietnam following use of Pentavalent vaccine. This vaccine combines the Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus or DPT vaccine - long used in national immunization programs - with Hepatitis-B and H influenza-b or Hib vaccine.

On May 26, Schala Vera was taken to Chandler Regional Medical Center. Apparently, her mother feared the young child had been molested while living with relatives in another state.

A social worker at the hospital had called Child Protective Services, reporting that the girl seemed uncomfortable around the mother's boyfriend. Last week, Schala was beaten to death. Every inch of the 3-year-old's body was covered in cuts and bruises, some of them the shape of a belt buckle.

Hostess Brands cited its enormous pension debts and labor costs for its bankruptcy and stated the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union's refusal to negotiate reductions as culprit.

Management promised to turn around the company's fortunes through innovation and workplace efficiency. It tried a limited-edition return of original banana-cream Twinkies and published The Twinkies Cookbook, which included such half-baked epicurean delights as Twinkie Sushi and Pigs in a Twinkie. But ancient delivery trucks and plant equipment didn't get replaced. The company's pricing often didn't keep pace with that of competitors. And Hostess still had ludicrous work rules.

After he had endured three months of ineffective treatments for Hodgkin's lymphoma, Abraham Cherrix rejected his doctor's recommendation to go through a second round of chemotherapy. He chose instead to seek out more natural, nontoxic methods using altern

After doing his research, he traveled with his father to Bio-Medical Center in Tijuana, Mexico. His treatments included liquid herbal supplements and a sugar-free, organic diet consisting mostly of fresh fruits and vegetables. When they returned home, they spoke to Abraham's oncologist, Dr. Rebecca Byrd, to keep her involved in his care. Wanting no part of their choices, she promptly declared their decision irrational, labeled it "medical neglect" and called the Accomack County Department of Social Services.

Parent Rights and the Foundation for Medical Neglect - When it comes to making decisions about their children, parents have few rights, as demonstrated by the Abraham Cherrix case and others.

The concept of the State control of children came from antiquity when Plato first suggested the mechanism for a state-provided public education. He advocated removing children from their parents' care and raising them as wards of the State. It is interesting that in 1918, at the congress of the Communist Party education workers in Russia it was asserted, "We must remove the children from the crude influence of their families."
