Among the changes being sought by advocates is a ban on alleged domestic violence perpetrators cross-examining their victims in court and for courts to consider any family violence history when determining how to divide property in a divorce settlement.

The Fresno father who sued the county after his son's death has now settled the case. Joseph Hudson claimed Child Protective Services mishandled the case and allowed his son to die.

It took seven years to get to this point, and Hudson said it's taken a toll on him beyond just what he suffered when his son was killed. Now, he intends to use the money he's getting to create a place where they'll train mandatory reporters to prevent child abuse.

Gruesome details were revealed in court, regarding what happened hours before 4-year old Kharisma Richardson was found dead in her north Kalamazoo home.

This comes as her mother sat in court battling for custody of her three other children. Child Protective Services gave a disturbing account of the horror that they say happened before Kharisma Richardson was found dead.

Paul Morris, the Assistant Commissioner for Child Care Licensing has announced he will be ending his time at the program this month. Additionally, the Director of Child Protective Services, Colleen McCall, is also resigning.

In his resignation letter, Morris said he is taking a new position as a consultant for emergency responders and the business community. Morris' last day with CPS will be April 30. During his time with CPS, Morris helped with national searches into illegal operations. He thanked the team of professionals he worked with during his three year career with CPS.

A local church is working to make the transition of getting foster children a little easier on foster parents, and they are asking for the community to step up and help as well.

Lesa Syler, Covington County Department of Human Resources Director, said that she was initially approached by Rex Jones about establishing a closet. Amy Jones of Central Church of Christ, said that Syler and Charles Willis, president of the Foster Parents Association, came and presented the partnership to the church.

A Kalamazoo girl who died last weekend was reportedly abused, according to Child Protective Services.

The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's office confirmed with FOX 17 that Kharisma Richardson was beaten with a belt, punched in the face and chest, and had suffered burns bad enough to blister her hands and feet.
