FDA Targets Essentials Oils: Sees EOs as Threat to New Ebola Drugs?

The FDA issued warning letters this week to the two largest distributors of essentials oils in the United Sates, Young Living and dōTERRA. The FDA is claiming that their products are being marketed as unapproved drugs.

According to the FDA, these promotions - especially ones related to Ebola - are inaccurate but not unexpected. "Oftentimes with public health incidences, like Ebola or even during H1n1, we see products that are marketed, often online, that claim to treat or cure the disease...without FDA approval," FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Yao said in an interview, adding that "these sorts of things pop up" in almost any public health crisis.

BREAKING: California Gun Waiting Period Laws Ruled Unconstitutional | Firearms Policy Coalition

Federal court decides 10-day waiting period laws violate Second Amendment rights. California's 10-day waiting period for gun purchases was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge this morning in a significant victory for Second Amendment civil rights.

The laws were challenged by California gun owners Jeffrey Silvester and Brandon Combs, as well as two gun rights groups, The Calguns Foundation and Second Amendment Foundation. In the decision released this morning, Federal Eastern District of California Senior Judge Anthony W. Ishii, appointed to the bench by President Bill Clinton, found that "the 10-day waiting periods of Penal Code [sections 26815(a) and 27540(a)] violate the Second Amendment" as applied to members of certain classifications, like Silvester and Combs, and "burdens the Second Amendment rights of the Plaintiffs."

State Child Welfare Worker Says Her Boss Questioned Her Ability to Speak English

A child welfare staffer at the Oregon Department of Human Services filed a complaint this month with the state labor board saying she was moved out of the job shes held for 14 years.

Online court records say 68-year-old Steven Preister, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and was fined $500. Prosecutors dropped a charge of public nudity in exchange for Preister's plea late last month.

Western Kentucky Couple Arrested for Endangering Welfare of Minors

A western Kentucky couple arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor. The Ohio County Sheriff's Office arrested Dakota Daugherty and Lena Aubrey today at their home in Hartford.

A deputy was following up an investigation of an accident, where he found a 6-year-old outside along while the adults were inside sleeping. The child reportedly told the deputy he sneaks out of the house frequently while the adults are sleeping. The deputy then reported hearing an infant crying inside the home and saw the child through a window lying on her stomach and not moving but crying. The sheriff's office says the deputy knocked on the door several times before entering. He says the home had no electricity and no running water.

18 mountain lion reports in IE neighborhood in July

An Inland Empire neighborhood is being inundated with mountain lion sightings. Some residents are at times, afraid to leave their homes with their pets. One homeowner says a big cat took off with one of his dogs.

Rancho Cucamonga resident Fred Gilley says one of his poodles was killed by a mountain lion last Friday night around 9 p.m. "We saw the footprint from over here in the corner where he jumped over the wall," said Gilley.
